Do we allow our experience to shape our understanding or our understanding to shape our experience, when it comes to the Holy Spirit? We know that God’s Word is inspired by the Holy Spirit and is therefore trustworthy and true. His Word must shape what we believe, even sometimes before we have experienced what we believe. This applies to how we understand the role of the Holy Spirit and how we hear what he says to us. As we discover, even the professionals, the prophets, had to learn to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit and sometimes didn’t get it right. Samuel had more than one such experience.
We look at how the Holy Spirit speaks to us today and what qualities we need to develop to have a responsive, listening ear.
